Getting Rich the Wrong Way
In Matthew 26:6–16, we encounter a striking contrast between two individuals. One offers everything she has to honor Jesus, while the other—one of His closest companions—sells Him out for a few coins. The unnamed woman gives extravagantly out of love. Judas, in contrast, betrays Jesus in pursuit of gain.
“She has performed a good service for me... Truly I tell you, wherever this good news is proclaimed... what she has done will be told in remembrance of her.” (Matthew 26:10,13)
What makes this moment so powerful is that Jesus elevates the woman’s act of devotion above all the posturing, power-grabbing, and complaining happening around her. Her generosity, given without hope of recognition, becomes a lasting part of the Gospel story.

Key Points:
- It’s Not About What We Get – Judas asked, “What will you give me?” The woman asked, “What can I give?”
- Recognition Can’t Be the Goal – True service doesn’t seek reward. It seeks to honor Christ.
- Give Where You Are – The unnamed woman gave out of what she had. So can we. Her story lives because her heart was in the right place.
