Pauses for Lent Day 31
Pauses for Lent by Trevor Hudson
Day 31 Word: BODY
Scripture: “Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, which you have from God?” 1 Corinthians 6:19
Our bodies lie at the center of our spiritual lives. We are incarnate beings in our very nature; we experience the world through our bodies.
This is why God came to earth as a human. God came as a human being with a real body like ours. Through Jesus we see the mystery of the Incarnation: The Word became flesh and dwelt among us.
Today, through his Spirit, the Lord Jesus wants to dwell within our bodies. But He can only do this when we offer them as living sacrifices to God. This total yielding of every part of ourselves to God renews our minds and transforms our spirits.
Comment from Marie: Being a temple of the Holy Spirit is a powerful incentive to take care of our bodies. We are not being selfish when we do. Rather, as the author points out, yielding every part of who we are to God renews our minds and transforms our spirits. Please share your thoughts on today’s word.

I have recently stopped looking at my body and finding fault. At reaching 80 I realize how much I appreciate what my body does for me. Now I thank it, bless it and try harder to take better care of it. Life is so precious and I want to stay healthy to enjoy it.
