Pauses for Lent Day 25
Pauses for Lent by Trevor Hudson
Day 25 Word: WAY
Scripture: “I am the way.” John 14:6
Lent provides us with an opportunity to find our way again. Every day we use pathways, walkways, motorways, driveways, and highways whenever we want to go somewhere. Even with these, we can get lost.
Two thousand years ago when Jesus came into our world, he offered himself to lost humanity as “the way.” The earliest followers of Jesus began calling themselves “people of the Way.” (See Acts 9:2) When we follow Jesus we enter into a lifelong journey in His company.
Lent encourages those of us who feel lost to get our lives back on track. It turns us toward Christ who meets us where we are, offers His life as the way, and invites us to follow.
Comment from Marie: The verse from Acts 9:2, referenced in today's post, reads; “Meanwhile, Saul was still breathing out murderous threats against the Lord’s disciples. He went to the high priest and asked him for letters to the synagogues in Damascus, so that if he found any there who belonged to the Way, whether men or women, he might take them as prisoners to Jerusalem.” Christ was and is the way, so being called people of the Way makes sense, whether it refers to the early church or to us now. Please share your thoughts on today’s word.

In our home we have a version of The Living Bible called THE WAY. It was first published in 1972 by Tyndale House and is intended to lead youth in The Way of Christ. We find it helpful to compare scripture in The Way with other versions of the Bible to better understand God's Word.
