Pauses for Lent Day 6
Pauses for Lent by Trevor Hudson
Day 6 Word: LOVE
Scripture: “Let us love, not in word or speech, but in truth and action” 1 John 3:18
We often think of love as a certain kind of feeling. But if we wait for loving feelings we may never get around to actually loving. On the other hand, when we perform a loving deed, the loving feelings often come along as well.
These loving deeds need not be big. We choose to act in love by taking small steps; a smile, handshake hug, phone call, whenever we can. Lent invites us to practice loving. God passionately loves us- not for us to save it up but to give it away to others.
Comment from Marie: For the Apostle John, love is a verb. The notion that you can actually see this emotion or feeling or quality by looking at the actions of others who demonstrate love. The challenge is to look for loving deeds, however small, to carry out today and everyday. Please share in your thoughts on today's word.

Maybe by Pauses day 40, I'll get it right.
Love truly does grow when you give it away. One Sunday the kids sang a song that I used to sing with my students at school, "Love is like a magic penny , hold it tight and you won't have any! Lend it, spend it, you'll have so many that they'll roll all over the floor." I think love is one of the few things that you can continually give away and it will continually grow. That's because God is Love!
You have said it so perfectly, Candi. Love does grow if you give it away. Because God is love.
Oh, I love that! â¤ï¸ 🙂
Giving love (simple acts) is so easy! It is simple, and so much appreciated by the recipient. This is a great time to practice this love during this Lenten season. With the technology we have now, send a text to someone everyday and let them know they're loved, ask if they need anything today, or just let them know we're thinking of them.
I love this book!
The delivery of Meals-on-Wheels today provided special opportunities for loving deeds. Loving deeds seem to bless those who perform them as well as those who receive them.
