Pauses for Lent Day 5

Pauses for Lent by Trevor Hudson
Day 5 Word: STILL
Scripture: “Be still, and know that I am God”  Psalm 46:10

Finding stillness and silence in a world conditioned to noise, busyness, and words is not easy. Little wonder we often lack personal and intimate knowledge of the Eternal One. The psalmist emphasizes that we need to be still to know God. Perhaps this is why our souls yearn for stillness, that silent communion with God for which our souls are created.
Aware of this, Desmond Tutu writes, “Each one of us wants and needs to give ourselves space for quiet.” It is in stillness we come to know the Divine Presence alive in us. In this way, we can see the importance of fostering a life of outer and inner stillness.

Comment from Marie:
During the busiest time of my life I found the quiet I needed to know God in the car everyday for 30 minutes during my drive to work. “A mobile place of stillness” according to the author. Now I have other quiet places. Remembering that God meets us in the silence, where do you go to find stillness? Please share your thoughts on today's word.

I feel like I struggle to find adequate time to be still and spend quality time with God. Life seems to keep trying to push it's way into our time together. This study is helping me to be more intentional in my prayer life.
