Thursday Morning Bible Study (THUMBS)
A Weekly Bible Study for All
Thursday United Methodist Bible Study (Th.U.M.B.S) meets at 9:30 am on the 3rd Thursday of the month for 6 months starting in September and ending in February.
The group then plans a Lenten study or activity to engage in. ThUMBS is open to all who might be interested, from the congregation and from the community. The lesson is more of a discussion, facilitated by the volunteer leader who chooses a study designed to build spiritual faith and biblical understanding. All ideas, thoughts, and concerns are respected within the group.
As in the past, the 2025-2026 study will be based on a curriculum that includes a participant book, a leader’s book, and short videos that are played each time the group meets.
2025 Study - Acts
Acts: Awakening to God in Everyday Life by Melissa Spoelstra is the next study, starting Thursday, September 18th. Melissa Spoelstra is a mother, pastor’s wife, and author of 10+ books. She has a degree in Bible Theology and, according to Cokesbury Publishers, is “a popular conference speaker and Bible teacher.”
In Acts: Awakening to God in Everyday Life, a six-part study of the Book of Acts, you will journey with the first followers of Jesus and witness the birth and growth of the early church through spiritual awakening to the power of God's Spirit, message, freedom, grace, mission, and direction.
From their experiences, you will learn postures that will help you
attune your own spiritual heart to experience God’s presence, hear God’s voice, and see God at work all around.
This study offers a fresh encounter with God to prepare you to:
- Face daily battles
- Be able to discern the messages of our culture
- Be ready to share God’s love with others always
The participant's book is available online or can be ordered by the church for $11.50.
There is a signup sheet in the back of the church, or you can call the church office to sign up.
