It\'s Not Political

This Week's Scripture: 2 Corinthians 6:1-13

Everyone in the bible is on a journey from where they are to the next place God is calling them to be.
Describe a time you decided to try/start something new? Maybe a new job, hobby, major in college, or fitness routine.

From Lorrie T.

I try to avoid being political but then, there it is. It affects my budget. It challenges my sense of love. Politics cannot be escaped. This year I am attending my local precinct meeting. I want to ask my political party to abandon the “us-versus-them” mantra. I want to ask my representatives to make decisions out of love rather than judgment. I want our political leaders to work for becoming a nation of reconciliation. I want to let them know that honey is better for interacting among society than vinegar. I am tired of the rancor. I want to know how we can expect peace in the world while there is brutal division in our own nation. But to make these points, I need to speak in a loving manner. I need to model how I want them to behave. And who am I?  Just another broken human being with many faults and weaknesses!

The words in 2 Corinthians 6:1-13 were hard for me to understand. I read it over several times. It tells me to put no obstacle in anyone’s way so that no fault may be found with our ministry. Can I remain loving and calm as I speak my thoughts? I suspect I will be treated as an unknown imposter since I have not been to a party precinct meeting for 45 years. Yet, I hope to speak frankly with a wide-open heart. If I am ridiculed and chastised, I hope to have no restriction in my affections. I want to ask that they open wide their hearts. I think this will require me to be in constant prayer, asking God to open wide my heart.

Gracious and Loving God, please help us keep our hearts wide open as we walk through our lives.  Let us remember to turn to you for comfort, truth, guidance, and peace. And help us to remember to give to others that which we want from others. Thank you for your gift of Jesus. Amen.

Reflect now on your own Autobiography. When did you do something new? How did it go? Did you feel God was with you?
