“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.”

Matthew 5:9

By Jan Stroh

When I was a teenager, discussions at my church youth group could often be stressful for me. I was shy, afraid to speak up and share in discussions. (Yes…it’s true…I know you find it hard to believe!) During one of the meetings, the question was asked, “How do you become a Christian? What must a person do?” I recall there being a very quiet time. I sort of surprised myself when my mouth opened and I stated, “we make the choice to accept Jesus as our Savior”. At the time, I wasn’t sure how I came up with it, but it felt right. This was that first step in growing my Christian faith. As Christians, we make a personal choice to follow Jesus. It’s that simple and it’s powerful at the same time.

In Matthew 5: 9 we are the peacemakers by choosing Jesus and therefore we become children of God.

Dear Lord,
Thank you for loving us unconditionally. Thank you for the peace we experience when we have a relationship with our Savior, Jesus Christ.
Amen
