This Week: June 30 - July 5

Let’s Make a Deal

Jesus stood by the Sea of Galilee and called Simon Peter to set down his nets in the daylight—a request that made no sense to an experienced fisherman. But faith isn’t always logical. It often asks us to step forward without certainty of what’s behind the door.
“Put out into the deep water and let down your nets for a catch.” (Luke 5:4)
Like the disciples, we all face moments when we must choose without knowing what comes next. We long for guarantees, but God calls us to faith. And when we get it wrong—when we choose the wrong door—God’s grace still meets us and leads us home.

Table of Contents

Key Points:

  1. Faith Means Moving Without All the Answers - The disciples didn’t know the outcome. They obeyed anyway.

  2. Grace Follows Wrong Turns - Even when we walk through the wrong door, God offers us another chance.

  3. God Sees What We Can’t - From our limited view, life can look like closed doors and uncertainty. From God’s view, there is purpose unfolding.

5-Day Devotional

Day 1: Into the Deep
Scripture Reference: Luke 5:4 "Put out into the deep water and let down your nets for a catch."
Jesus invited Simon to trust beyond his experience. Where is God calling you into deeper faith?

Action Step: Name one place in your life where God may be nudging you to trust beyond what you can see.

Prayer Prompt: Lord, give me courage to put my nets down when You ask, even when it feels uncertain.
Day 2: The Fear of Picking Wrong
Scripture Reference: Proverbs 3:5-6 "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own insight."
Fear of failure keeps us stuck. Faith is not about always being right—it’s about trusting God with the outcomes.

Action Step: Reflect on a time you were afraid to decide. How did God show up in that moment?

Prayer Prompt: God, help me trust You more than I trust my fear of mistakes.
Day 3: Grace in Every Door
Scripture Reference: Romans 8:38-39 "Nothing... will be able to separate us from the love of God."
Even if you walk through the wrong door, God’s grace goes with you.

Action Step: Write down something in your past you regret. Pray for God’s grace to cover it.

Prayer Prompt: Lord, thank You that no mistake can outrun Your love.
Day 4: Unexpected Outcomes
Scripture Reference: Ephesians 3:20 "Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine..."
Peter never expected the nets to overflow. Sometimes God’s best gifts surprise us.

Action Step: Look for an unexpected blessing in your life this week. Name it and give thanks.

Prayer Prompt: God, thank You for showing up in ways I never expect.
Day 5: Choosing Again
Scripture Reference: Lamentations 3:22-23 "His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning..."
God’s grace means you always get another chance to follow.

Action Step: Identify one area where you want to begin again. Take a first step today.

Prayer Prompt: Jesus, help me start fresh. Thank You for new mercies every day.
