This Week: June 22-28
Family Feud
As Jesus teaches in the temple, religious leaders attempt to trap Him with questions about authority and allegiance. They question where His power comes from and whether it’s lawful to pay taxes to Caesar. But Jesus, with wisdom and grace, sidesteps their trap and offers a lesson that endures: Give to Caesar what is Caesar’s—and to God what is God’s.
“Then give to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.” (Luke 20:25)
Jesus reminds us that our true allegiance is not to systems of power or status, but to the God who created us. In a world of divided loyalties and internal conflicts—even within our own communities and churches—Jesus calls us to focus on what matters most: loving God, loving others, and playing for the same team.
Table of Contents
Key Points:
- Faith Isn’t About Status – Religious leaders questioned Jesus not to learn, but to protect their position. Our faith must be grounded in humility, not hierarchy.
- We Belong to God – Caesar’s coin bore his image. But we bear God’s image. What we owe to God is everything.
- Unity in the Body of Christ Matters – Most conflicts don’t start outside the church—they start within. Jesus challenges us to seek unity with those closest to us.
5-Day Devotional
Day 1: Whose Image Do You Bear?
Scripture Reference: Genesis 1:27 "So God created humankind in his image, in the image of God he created them..."
The coin bore Caesar’s image—but you bear God’s. What does that mean for how you live?
Action Step: Reflect on your identity as someone made in God’s image. What does God deserve from your life?
